Criminal Justice & Community Relations Subcommittee
The purpose of the Criminal Justice and Community Relations Subcommittee is proposing measures to specifically alleviate and correct underlying causes of negative conditions affecting black men and boys by providing timely statistical data regarding arrests and incarceration rates; fostering community dialogue regarding data provided.
Education Development Subcommittee
The purpose of the Education Development Subcommittee is to propose measures to increase opportunities for education through sustainable strategies emphasizing retention and learning to obtain certificates, degrees, and life-long performance success through scholastic platforms or programs. The Subcommittee examines data points exploring data-driven reforms of education to expound and preserve best practices and to reduce risk factors.
Employment and Economics Subcommittee
The Employment and Economics Subcommittee is charged with leading and coordinating systematic studies of the employment and economic conditions that affect black men and boys in Florida. The subcommittee works diligently with stakeholders to identify data and promising practices that have led to economic empowerment, self-sufficiency and that supports the continuous development of black male engagement in entrepreneurship and black-owned businesses. This subcommittee is focused on improving the outcomes of black males across the State of Florida by:
- Assisting with the development of the Council’s research strategies and plans
- Contributing to the development of key legislative policy priorities and recommendations
- Increasing awareness of the employment and economic needs
- Proposing measures to alleviate and correct the underlying causes that impact the employment and economic conditions of black males
Physical / Behavioral Health & Family Stability Subcommittee
The purpose of the Physical / Behavioral Health & Family Stability Subcommittee is to propose measures to alleviate and improve underlying causes of negative health conditions affecting black males. This Subcommittee is examining the social determinants of minority health in Florida; and, identifying organizations and best practices that reduce risk factors and expand protective factors that affect health and family stability.
