Dr. David Clay

Dr. David Clay is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After graduating from high school, he served five years in the United States Marine Corps, leaving with the rank of Sergeant. Upon his discharge from the military, Dr. Clay attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he studied psychology.

After graduating from Morehouse College, he entered the University of South Florida’s Clinical Psychology program, where he earned his doctoral degree. His professional career began at the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida, where he provided mental health services to both civilly and forensically committed patients.

Since leaving the Florida State Hospital in 2010, Dr. Clay has provided consultation services to the Florida Disability Determinations Service. During his nearly thirty years in Florida—twenty-one of those in North Florida—he has been deeply committed to community service through his membership in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and by serving on the boards of various community organizations.

Dr. Clay remains dedicated to improving his community in multiple ways, including working to increase the availability of affordable housing.
